Cosette was supposed to be studying. She knew that she was supposed to be studying. She also knew that if she did not study she was going to regret it later. However, she just could not study. She could not bring herself to do it. She tried to study. In fact, she tried several times to study. She would begin to study but then she'd would find her mind wandering to everything that was not studying. It was beginning to get frustrating to the point that she simply gave up on studying. She would just have to find time to study later or simply hope for the best the next day in class.
Instead of studying, Cosette was lying on her stomach on the Hufflepuff Common Room floor in front of the fireplace. She was staring intently at a house of cards that she was carefully assembling. It was already three levels high which was impressive since she kept accidentally knocking it down and having to start over again. Slowly, she placed another card on top. It stayed. Cosette let out a small sigh of relief. It was a small sigh but it unfortunately it was a bit too much. The house trembled briefly before toppling to the ground.
"Oh, Merlin's beard!" She shouted as she pushed the cards to the side to begin again.

The day was just beginning for Ailey. She had stayed up late studying for all over her classes that she ended up sleeping the whole morning away. She bounced down the stairs, humming a tuneful melody as she entered the common room. She planned to spend the rest of the day outside in the sun.
Just as she headed for the door, she heard someone yell out in frustration. Turning from side to side, Ailey spotted Cosette laying on the ground next to a scrumpled pile of cards.
"Is everything alright?"

Cosette grinned as she heard cheerful humming entering the room. That could only mean one person. Her suspicions were confirmed as she spotted Ailey. She laughed.
"Oui. Zis 'ouse won't stay up."
She gestured to the pile of cards.
"I 'ave made it to three levels, zen it all falls down. Want to 'elp?"

Building a house out of cards was something Ailey never heard of. And from the looks of it, it was very difficult. No matter how much Ailey wanted to be outside, Cosette needed help and it seemed like it could be fun.
"Of course I want to help!"
Ailey skipped over to Cosette and knelt down on the floor next to her. She picked up a few cards and flipped them around.
"Honestly, I've never built one of these before."

Cosette sat up and stared.
"You've never built a house out of cards before?"
She cleared the area of cards. Picking up two, she set them down at right angles so that they stood up. She placed a card on top as a roof.
"It's usually more fun if you play with a deck of Exploding Snap cards but it can also be a bit dangerous. I don't really want to lose my eyebrows especially since I'm kind of hoping a certain someone would ask me to spend Hogsmeade weekend with him."

Nope, never have!"
Ailey smiled, shifting her legs around so she was more comfortable. She watched as Cosette started to build one. The idea was so simple, Ailey had no idea why she hadn't thought of it. She tried building it in the same way Cosette did but it fell the second she pulled her hand away.
"Exploding snap cards would make this impossible!"
She grabbed the cards and tried setting them up again. However, it didn't stay and fell back down. Ailey straightened up and smiled.
"Oh! Who were you hoping to ask you!?"

(Hogsmeade weekend snuck up on us and started so this may need to end the thread ) Cosette laughed. "My brothers always played zis with exploding snap cards. One time, my mum got so angry with zem zat she took zere brooms away for nearly three months! Little did she know zat zey snuck into her room and stole zem back nearly every weekend!"She had several brothers who were always getting into trouble. And from the way Cosette talked about it, one would almost think that she was an angel. In all truth, she was in trouble just as often as they were. Cosette blushed. "I can't remember his name but he's zat sixth year Ravenclaw. I 'ave a class with 'im and 'e seems nice."She shook her head. He was nice but Cosette doubted he knew of her existence. "'E probably won't ask me."

(Shoot!)
Ailey laughed when Cosette mentioned her brother. She had so many stories she could tell about her younger brother. He was the biggest pain and she had to deal with him all summer.
"My brother has done stuff like that. Oh no! He's going to be at Hogwarts in two years," Ailey frowned, realizing she would have to deal with him the entire year. If anything, she would just ignore him entirely. If he got in trouble, it was his fault. She completely gave up on trying to build a house.
"Wait, you aren't talking about Anthony, are you?"
