It was a little early for lunch, but May still found herself sitting down at the staff table in the Great Hall. For some irritating reason, her classes always seemed to be early in the day or late at night. It left her large blocks of free time straight in the middle of the day. And she hated being bored.
So here she was sitting at the table. There was food on her plate but she wasn't interested in eating it. May kept glancing around the Hall while she waited for some of the other professors to arrive. She pushed some of her food around with her fork as she sighed. She really hoped that Kian would show up first. She would love to get to know him better. Or even Elliot though he seemed a bit too moody for her.
May grinned as she thought about it. Heck, she'd even be okay with Archer though he seemed a bit too old to her. She scrumpled up her nose. She didn't know how old he actually was. He just seemed old for whatever reason.
She sighed again. If nobody showed up soon she was going to lose her mind.

Since all of the CoMC classes where scheduled after hours, Vyktor found his days completely free. At first he spent his time in his office, like usual. No one knew what he did in there but he rarely left it except for class. Today was going to be no different until he decided to venture out. It was anyone's guess of why he came out of his secluded office.
Unlike others, Vyktor liked taking hallways that were less traveled. Most of which were window less and covered in sleeping paintings and creaking suits of armor. The hallway he took this time ran right past the great hall.
He decided to show his face to whoever was there, and show them he was still alive. But when he popped his head in, he spotted the potions professor at the table. He had meant to talk to her sometime, since their offices were so close.
He made his way to the table, stopping abruptly behind the seat next to her. In a heavy Romanian accent, he cleared his throat and asked.
"Is anyone sitting here?"

May looked up as she heard a voice. Vyktor. Not who she was hoping for. But still, she was never one to miss up on an opportunity. She smiled.
"Clearly, you are. It is nice to see you in the Great Hall."
Vyktor seemed nice enough though May hardly ever saw him. He usually seemed to spend his time in his Office.

Vyktor smiled and took the seat, looking at the food sitting on the table. All of which looked good but was not what he normally ate. So instead he just sat there which his arms in his lap.
"Da, I do not come here that often."
He glanced around at the few students around mostly studying or working on homework. A couple of them he recognized as his own students. Although they took no notice of his presence.
"How are you, May?"

"Well you should come here more often. I hardly ever get to see you anymore."
May may have been hoping for Kian to show up but she was going to be happy talking to anyone. And now that she was talking to Vyktor, he had her full attention. May pushed her plate aside and folded her arms neatly on the table. She smiled.
"Oh I am wonderful! Don't you just love the start of the school year? New students excited to begin learning and returning students actually remembering things you had taught them the previous year! And the Quidditch season! And...oh it's so exciting! I just love this time of year! But how was your summer? Did you do anything exciting?"

"I do prefer the comfort of my office and the dungeons. No many students there besides my Slytherins."
Vyktor noticed May had turned to him and seemed very interested in their conversation. His natural instinct was to leave and hide from so much attention but instead he stayed. She was right, he did not get out that much and he needed at least one other friend on staff.
The excitement in her voice over how school was starting, startled Vyktor. He didn't know anyone who could be so happy school had started again. Not even the professors were this happy.
"Well I do love being back at Hogwarts. I do not know of these students you are talking about though. All of mine forgot everything they have learned. Are you not lucky! Although I did have a select few excited about the pixies I covered yesterday."
Vyktor laughed a little. There were hardly any students that were like how she described. Most were in Ravenclaw. But CoMC was not a broad class. You either hated it or loved it.
"I went back to Romania this summer and visited some family. It was nice to be back at home. Did you do anything?"

Elliot had spent the morning preparing for his next class. Finishing that, he realized he was hungry. He immediately went down to the Great Hall. Grabbing some food, he looked around. It was still a bit early for lunch so the Hall was nearly empty. Spotting May and Vyktor, he decided to join them.
With his food in hand, he slid into a seat next to Vyktor. He nodded a greeting at them before beginning to eat. He glanced up suddenly. They weren't eating. He had the sudden impression that he had interrupted something. He looked back down at his food.

It was rare to see Vyktor talking so much and talking about himself too! May was thoroughly enjoying their conversation. In the past she really hadn't given him much thought but now she was genuinely interested in getting to know him better.
She smiled.
"Not everyone would find your Slytherins very...enjoyable."
She didn't want to insult him by insulting his House but everyone knew the sort of trouble certain Slytherins always seemed to be causing.
"I mean with the pixies and monster books and duels in the corridors. They are a handful."
She laughed when he mentioned the pixies.
"I bet I know which student that was. I remember when Christian let loose the pixies. It is terrible and all, what happened to the professor's wand but it really was kind of funny."
She perked up when he mentioned summer. Now here was this strange, mysterious guy who always kept to himself and rarely even came into the Great Hall and she actually had him talking about himself outside of school. She had a gift.
Just as May was about to respond Elliot came out of seemingly nowhere. The entire Hall was nearly empty but for whatever reason he chose the seat right next to Vyktor. She glared at him.
"Hello, Elliot. I was just talking to Vyktor here about last summer. Did you do anything remotely interesting last summer?"
May put an emphasis on the word you to let him know that she wasn't particularly happy about him interrupting.

"I would have to object there. They cause... trouble, yes. But they all are enjoyable to be around."
Vyktor wouldn't even bring up the number of times he had seen his Slytherins getting into trouble and he just walked away. Why should they be the ones getting caught everytime. He had seen plenty of other students do terrible things and get away with it.
"Da, Christian was one. He acted like he had no idea. Quite funny... indeed."
It was hard for Vyktor to find certain words as he spoke. His accent seemed to get stronger without his knowledge. It was too strange for him to be talking for so long and not in a classroom. At the sound of someone sitting next to him, Vyktor tensed up.
The Great Hall seemed to be getting too crowed for him. However it seemed he was being brought in to the conversation with the new comer. It would be completely rude if he left just like that.
