Professor Ora was the History of Magic professor. However, during the summer she was doing some work at the Ministry. As her duties there ran long, she was going to miss her first few class.
Headmaster Noakes was going to run her first few classes. It had been a long time since he had taught, but her was certain that he could at the very least wing it.
And with those thoughts, he sat at Professor Ora's desk as he waited for the students to arrive.

Christian was actually looking forward to History of Magic. He had been having way too many late night classes lately and was needing the chance to catch up on his sleep.
However, his mood quickly changed as he entered the classroom and saw the Headmaster of all people sitting at the desk. If he was teaching this class then there would be no chance to sleep.
Christian inwardly groaned as he took a seat in the back of the room. The end of the day couldn't come fast enough.

Julien froze at the doorway when he saw the Headmaster. He had to do all he could to keep his mouth from dropping to the floor. Quickly as he could, Julien took a seat off to the side. First thing that came to his mind was what could have happened to Professor Orla.

History of Magic was only an okay subject if it was taught in a somewhat exciting manner. However, that rarely seemed to happen. And dull history was absolutely terrible.
Alex trudged his way to the History of Magic classroom, fighting the urge to return to his dormitory and sleep. He quickly hid a look of surprise at seeing the Headmaster in the room. He turned his surprised look into a grin as he quickly took a seat. Maybe this class wouldn't be so boring after all.

History of Magic was a typical boring class. It was all lecture, punctuated by the occasional essay. There was no hands-on magic involved. And because of that, it was a class that Rowena could do without. But it was at least somewhat interesting.
She entered the classroom and took a seat without looking around. Once she was seated she looked up only to notice the Headmaster sitting at Professor Ora's desk. Her eyes widened in surprise. What was he doing there? And where was Professor Ora?

Mae saw the headmaster sitting in the seat where professor Ora should have been, indeed she thought it odd but knowing there must have been an adequate reason. She merely took a seat in an empty desk and played idly with a quill waiting for class to begin.

"Welcome, welcome, welcome! It is so very nice to see such happy faces eager to learn so early in the morning. I know that there must be one question spring to the forefronts of your minds so I will answer that before we begin. Professor Ora will be missing your first few lessons this year. She is working on a project for the Ministry at the moment. But not to fret! She will be back before you know it. In the meantime, I will be filling in."
Noakes picked up a stack of papers. He spent the next couple minutes looking at it intently. After reading through it a few times, he set them down and stood up.
"I am not certain what Professor Ora's plans are for this class, so I will just talk about the founding of Hogwarts. In the 10th century, rowing distrust on the part of Muggles for wizards and witches compels the four greatest witches and wizards of the age - Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin - to found Hogwarts. Those four were not united. Salazar Slytherin believed that only pureblood wizards should be allowed in. After his idea was dismissed, he built the Chamber of Secrets. Eventually there was so much friction between Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor that it erupts in violence. Slytherin then leavest the school."
Noakes paused for those students taking notes to catch up.
"Can anyone tell me how distrust between the wizarding folks and muggles caused the need for a wizard school? How are they related?"

(already present)
Ben stared at the Headmaster. Nothing he had said was anything that every single person currently at Hogwarts didn't already know. He was pretty certain that when Professor Ora did return, she would be disappointed in what they had learned in her absence. But, he would try to get what he could out of the lesson.
Ben raised his arm. After the Headmaster called on him, he said,
"Was it because wizards needed a safe space to learn and practice magic, away from Muggles?"
It seemed to easy of an answer but perhaps the Headmaster would go into more details.
