First Name: Katrina
Last Name: Covas
Heritage: Muggleborn
Place of Birth: Albuquerque, New Mexico (moved to London when she was 8)
Age/Date of Birth: 11, November 8
School year: First
Appearance : Katrina clearly comes from a Hispanic background. She has a little darker complexion as well as the brown eyes and dark hair to match. She has always been a bit shorter for her age but up for that with a confidence that seemed to make her look taller than she really was.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Dark Brown
Height: short for her age
Avatar: Michelle Rodriguez
Dressing Style: Katrina never had a lot of money growing up so she is used to wearing whatever she happened to have. Two things, however, that will never be seen on her are dresses and skirts.
Personality : Katrina has had a hard life growing up. Moving from Albuquerque to London, then being placed in the boarding school, then the refuge, then finally Jemima’s house is not a stable way to life one’s life. Because of this, she doesn’t make friends easily. Her reasoning as to why she never lets anyone into her heart is that they would leave her. She believes that she is tough and can handle anything. While this isn’t true, she often acts like it is. She can’t be broken so she can be a bit reckless.
Katrina has been pushed out of the way one too many times. She craves attention and is equally as stubborn as her mother. If one were to break down her hard exterior, they would find that she is capable of loving just as deeply as her father.
Strengths: Adaptable, courageous, tough
Weaknesses: Audacious, tactless, reckless
Brief History of School Experience: (This is only for older student creations, what happened in the first couple years of Hogwarts)
Best subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Weak subject: History of Magic
Parents: Marco Covas, Eliana Covas (both muggles)
Siblings: Pavo Stolar (2)
Family history: Eliana Valdez and Marco Covas grew up together in the same slummy side of Albuquerque. They both had siblings murdered as a result of getting involved in drug trafficking. Those deaths were hard on everyone. It was difficult enough just trying to survive without having the pain of one’s family being torn apart. This pain was what first drew Eliana and Marco together. They found solace in each other. This friendship continued to grow and develop as they grew older. It eventually became more one-sided. A deep friendship on one side, while the other became something deeper. Marco was fully and deeply in love with Eliana. Eliana never fully reciprocated though she always held a deep affection for him.
One night on the anniversary of her brother’s death, in an effort to escape the arguing of her parents, Eliana snuck out or her house and into Marco’s. She spent the night curled up with him on his couch. Nine months later Katrina was born.
Marco was ecstatic that he had a daughter. He was convinced that having a child together would prove to Eliana that they were meant to be together. And for awhile everything seemed almost too perfect. Eliana and Marco spent more and more time together. Katrina grew into a perfect little girl. She had her mother’s smile and her father’s eyes.
But all good things must come to an end. Eight years after Katrina was born, Eliana received an opportunity of a lifetime. While waiting for Marco to get off work, she met a British “tourist” at a bar. Aiden Stolar, entranced by her beauty and her laughter, determined that he couldn’t let her go. Within an hour he had convinced Eliana to return to London with him. At first distraught at the idea of leaving Katrina behind, Aiden put her fears at ease. He would pay for them both to return with him. Eliana, seeing a chance at a better life for her and her daughter, said yes immediately. Aiden made plans to pick her them up early the next morning.
That night Eliana visited Marco to tell him goodbye. Seeing the love in his eyes, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. So instead of goodbyes, she didn’t even mention the man she had met or what she was planning on doing.
The next morning, Marco went to Eliana’s house and met a shock. She was gone and had taken Katrina with her. No one knew where she went. Marco spent the next three years searching for her, heartbroken by what she had done.
Eliana, however, was entranced with London. Everything was so different. Particularly Adrian. He had immediately enrolled Katrina in a boarding school far from home and used his time to parade Eliana throughout the city like a trophy. Eliana loved the attention at first. Pavo was born a year after moving to London. But the attentions that she received eventually took a sour turn.
Adrian’s temper began to show and it wasn’t long before the abuse started pouring in. Eliana took Pavo and fled but not before pulling Katrina from her school when she was ten years old. Friendless, moneyless, and nearly homeless, Eliana regretted what she had done. And more than anything she missed Marco. She made one attempt to call him but was told that he no longer lived there. In despair, she went to a Women’s Refuge. There, a kindly and childless older lady (Jemima Boffin) who often volunteered her time took pity on her and her family. She took them in and treated Eliana like her daughter.
Katrina’s acceptance letter to Hogwarts was a surprise. When Eliana first saw the letter she believed it at once to be a miracle. Her daughter would have a chance at life. She would have a chance at success. Jemima, as luck would have it, was in fact a witch. Her love for the family caused her to clap her hands with glee at the letter and immediately offer to pay for all seven years of tuition.
