It has now been fourteen years after Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts. The majority of the Death Eaters were killed. The lucky few ended up in Azkaban or escaped and went into hiding. There was so much anger directed at them that not many were able to escape the ensuing wrath, including those who may have simply been imperiused.
The next fourteen years were a time of rebuilding. Minerva McGonnagall served as Headmistress during this time, overseeing the rebuilding of Hogwarts. This time also showed several staff changes as professors have retired.
At the end of the previous school year it was announced that she would be retiring as well. Taking her place is Everard Noakes, a highly skilled though slightly flighty wizard.
In the wizarding world, witches and wizards everywhere enjoyed the first true peace in a long time. But wounds run as deep as the mistrust that seems to have settled over everyone. After dark the shops and pubs are only half as busy as they once were. Strange witches and wizards are treated with the highest suspicion. Whispers of dark activity and dangerous witches and wizards can be heard in nearly every magical home. Whether there is any truth to these whispers is yet to be seen. But the truth that everyone believes is that if Voldemort could happen once (well...technically twice) then it could happen again.
