Character Registration
1. A handler may have multiple characters under one e-mail address. Players may have as many characters as they can handle.
2. When registering please use your character name for your username name. If you need to change/edit your username, contact either the Headmaster or the Minister of Magic.
3. All character submissions must use the board format found in the Character Creation thread
4. All students must be living with a parent(s) or guardian. No student is to be on their own, living with friends or couch hoping. Their is no way they could afford Hogwarts tuition, their supplies or have their Hogsmeade slip signed.
Canon characters/names/ghosts
1. The year in game is 2012. This means that there is still a lot of Cannon running around. Be mindful of this but always be smart
2. Cannon CAN NOT be NPC’ed by players. If you require a cannon character to interact with yours please contact the Headmaster or the Minister of Magic.
3. Cannon characters are not allowed. Anyone registering with a cannon name such as Harry_Potter or the like will be deleted.
4. If a player would like a Cannon last name they will need to look over the Cannon Surname thread first. As long as the last name they request is not banned they will need a VERY detailed background when submitting a character application and have been active on the site at least 3 months. It is also best to explain how they are related to the Cannon characters in game.
5. You may NOT play the illegitimate son/daughter of Snape, Voldemort or any other Cannon. The characters in the books are the only ones allowed on the board.
6. The only Ghost character allowed to be NPCed is Peeves the Poltergeist.
7. Cannon items such as The Marauders Map, Deathly Hallows or Time Turners are not readily available to players and thusly must be approved prior to play.
Student Characters
1. Students, during school, may only post in Hogwarts threads. Those Third year and above may post in Hogsmeade. Conversely adults, who are not staff or on Ministry business, may not post in Hogwarts. During summer side plays these restrictions do not apply.
2. Romantic themes with characters 4th year and below MUST be kept to the PG level. Up until a student graduates keep it to PG-13. After that they are 18 and of legal age.
3. Please remember your student character is between 12 and 17. Overly sexualized students will be dealt with harshly by Hogwarts staff.
4. There is a list of year appropriate spells that can be found in the (HERE). Members caught using spells beyond their characters ability without appropriate back play with a professor (or in an approved scene with an older student) to justify the ability to cast said spell will be disciplined.
5. Any house parties must be approved through staff before they can be played. These events are rare and IC the house elf’s are under strict orders to report students asking for large quantities of food.
6. First year students may not be on the house Quidditch team without prior in game approval from the head of that student’s house or the headmaster. Second years and above may try-out for Quidditch. It is recommended, but not required, that the captain of each team be fourth year and above.
Adult Characters
1. Adult Characters may apply to own or manage a shop in Diagon Ally, Knockturn Ally or Hogsmeade. This includes shops that a character creates or those that JK Rowling has already created.
2. The creation of Aurors or Ministry Employees requires prior approval before a character is created as these are organized by actual characters already in play. Contact the Minister of Magic to get prior approval for Aurors or Ministry Employees before creation. The same is true for characters who may have started out as students or adults in other situations that want to become a part of the Ministry.
3. Characters may be created for the sole purpose of having them become a professor (or other member of staff), or an adult that has already been in play for some time may apply for a position at Hogwarts. Either way the Headmaster must be notified of any character applying for a position at Hogwarts and the Headmaster must appoint them to the position before they can be played as such.
