Kian was trying something different this year. In previous years he always split his class up into three classes. This year he was only dividing it into two. He thought that it might be good for the different years to work together. The older students would help out the younger ones. And the younger ones would be more inspired by watching some of the older students. At least that is what he hoped would happen.
He set a box down on one of the desks. A wide variety of noises emitted from the holes in the box. Grinning he took a seat at his desk.

Jie groaned when he entered the room. He was the first one there. He hated being the first student in a classroom. But he smiled as he saw the chattering box. At least it looked like they were going to be doing something interesting.
Going over to the box, he tried to peer through one of the little holes. It was too dark to see inside. Jie quickly stuck a finger inside.
"Ow!" he yelped as something nipped his finger. He pulled his hand away and examined his injury. It was just a small little cut.
More intrigued than ever, he put his finger in his mouth as he took a seat as far from the box as possible.

Cosette entered the room just in time to see Jie get his finger bitten. She laughed before turning her attention to Professor Ross.
"Bonjour, Professor. Did you 'ave a good summer?"
She was not afraid to admit it. She thought that Professor Ross was simply gorgeous. Transfiguration was not her favorite subject, but thanks to the professor, it was her favorite class.

Transfiguration was Alex's favorite class and by far his best. It was just the right combination of complicated and exciting. At least that's how he viewed it.
Alex gave the noisy box a quick glance as he took a seat. He didn't know what was in it, but he was sure that it was something fun. Professor Ross never did anything that wasn't fun.

Katrina smiled as she stepped in the door. A Slytherin, a Hufflepuff, and a Ravenclaw. And now a Gryffindor. There was now one student from each class. Unfortunately, Katrina didn't care much for any of them. She was fairly certain that the little Slytherin was a small bundle of pure evil. The Hufflepuff talked too much. And she thought that the Ravenclaw was a stuck up little twit.
Where's all the cool students? she thought as she took a seat far away from the other three students. She was really hoping that Maya or Julien would show up soon. They were a lot more fun to hang around with.

"Jie, you have no idea what is in that box. You could've easily been poisioned. In fact, since you got a cut that easily, it has to be some magical creature."
Maya had come in to see Jie with his finger in his mouth and a look of pain. She also saw him eye the box. It was easy to put two and two together. She smiled and as she passed him, threw in,
"And actually most of the small magic creatures that can be transfigured are very poisonous."
She gave a look of concern to him, one with a hint of sympathy before continuing on her way. She glanced around and took a seat next to the only Gryffindor that was in the room.

Ailey quickly took a seat next to Alex and took a deep breath. She was so glad she wasn't late. She had been completely distracted by something that was moving around in the dungeon and had lost track of time. She always hated walking through the dungeons. They terrified her. She let out a sigh of relief.
