The first class was always the worst particularly as it was Divination. Elliott had learned over the years that all of his students could be divided into two groups. There were those who believed that Divination was a chance to goof off. It was as far from serious as possible and they only took it to get an easy grade. The second group was much smaller. They were the ones who took it too seriously. These students would arrive early and leave late. They would lurk around the door between classes in an attempt to pick up on some secret method. This was the group that would be seeing grims everywhere they looked by the end of the week.
Elliott did not know which group was worse. He sighed as he set up the crystal balls on all of the tables. Divination was a surprisingly polarizing subject.
Finishing his task, he took a seat in the corner of the room where he would be able to watch his students walk in.

Divination was a fluff class to Rowena. It was an easy good grade for her. She was able to pick up the basics through books and everything else she just made up. Professor Fitzgerald never seemed any wiser to it. The only thing she hated was that some students (mostly Christian and his group) used the class to cause trouble. It was really difficult to pay attention and learn anything with those kids around. She wished the classes were divided by Houses. Things would be so much better without Slytherins.
But Rowena put her thoughts aside as she entered the room. Smiling in Professor Fitzgerald's general direction, she took a seat as far from him as possible.

Benjamin took a seat at Rowena's table. "How is it that we always seem to be the first two to every class?"
He looked into the crystal ball. He never could see anything in them even despite the fact that Professor Fitzgerald always did his first class of each year on them. All he could see in them was white. Lots and lots of white.
He tapped the ball. "Maybe this means that it's going to snow."

This was only the second year that Cosette was old enough to take Divination. She really loved the class despite not really believing in Divination. Last year had been a lot of fun so she had very high expectations for this year.
Cosette entered the tower classroom and looked around. There were only two other students there, both seven years who were sitting together. One of them was from her House but she never really spoke to him before.
Sighing, Cosette chose an empty table. Sitting down, she aimlessly traced her finger around the crystal ball.

Christian loved Divination. It was a fun class. The Professor always seemed to be a bit laid back so he often got away with things. Arriving now, he sighed when he saw the crystal balls. It was always crystal balls. They've studied that subject to death. Of course, no one ever seemed to actually see anything. Perhaps Professor Fitzgerald was going to keep teaching crystal balls until someone actually learned something.
He took a table by himself. Christian looked at the door, wondering how long it was going to be before Sienna showed up. He never understood why she always took Divination since she never seemed to care much for it.

Maya walked into the room singing softly to herself.
"..scary ghost. Spookin' himself the most. Shake your booty like a boggert in pain. Again, and again, and again. Get it on like an angry spector. Who's definetly out to get ya. Stamp your feet like a leprcaun. Get it on,get it on! Can you dance the Hippogriff Ma, ma ,ma ,ma, ma,ma,ma"
As she walked in farther, she closed her mouth but continued humming it. It was a great song but it was a terrible mistake for her to listen to it before she came to class. She took a seat by Cosette and looked at the crystal ball, still humming.
"I can't get this song out of my head!"
