It was a beautiful fall day. While the air was still warm, the breeze had a slight edge of chill to it. And the leaves were just beginning to turn colors. It was a day that simply could not be spent indoors. So ignoring that little inner voice that told him that he had more important things to be doing, Ben was walking along the edge of the lake. In fact, he was nearly walking in it.
He walked slowly, his feet barely out of the lapping of the water. He gaze was focused in the water and he kept pausing to peer in closer. Ben had hoped to catch one last glimpse of the giant squid before it went deeper for winter. But so far he had no luck.
Thinking he might give up, he looked back towards the castle. There were other students walking around. Ben recognized most of them. There were a few younger students that he had never seen before. They must hide in the shadows.
A bit of laughter caught his attention. Turning, he spotted its source. Sienna. A fifth year Slytherin that was about as mean as they come. It was a shame that she was a Slytherin, really. She was kind of pretty. Ben made up his mind on the spot.
With one last glance at the water, he turned and walked towards Sienna. Once near her, he hesitated.
"Um...hi."
Ben sighed. Really? Hi? He could do better than that.

Sienna was tired of spending all of her days inside in stuffy classrooms with those completely inferior to her. It only took her seconds to decide to step out onto the grounds. She took her place leaning against a large tree and let out a large sigh. It was amazing how great fresh air could be.
She watched around, spotting some young students near by her in a group. She heard every word they were saying in their obnoxious voices. Sienna slipped out her wand and aimed it at the girl talking.
"Quietus!"
Whispering the spell left all the students confused as the girl's voice became so quiet not even they could hear it. This caused them all to freak out, turning their heads from side to side with panicked looks. The girl who had almost no voice now sat on the ground crying. Sienna couldn't help but laugh.
When she heard someone say hi to her, she slipped her wand in her pocket inconspicuously as possible and turned to the speaker. There stood Benjamin, almost the opposite of a teacher. She sighed and glanced back at the students. It seemed an older student was helping them now.
"Um, hello."
She said, turning back.

As he had neared Sienna, it was clear that she was antagonizing some other students. Ben wasn't really surprised. But he threw that out of his thoughts as she said hello. Whatever he had expected, it wasn't that she would say hi back. He had almost expected her to immediately turn around and walk away. But she didn't. And now Ben needed to quickly think of something to say next.
"Um...Hogsmeade weekend is this weekend and I was thinking...well, I was wondering if maybe you might...want to go...with me..."
Ben let his voice trail off.

The last thing that Sienna expected to come from his mouth was anything to do about them going together anywhere. For one, he was several years older than her and two, he was a Hufflepuff. She didn't get along with many people at Hogwarts, and those that she did were mostly in Slytherin.
"Wait, you want to go to Hogsmeade with me?"
Sienna laughed and crossed her arms. In what world would she be caught dead by him. She straightened up as the idea hit her. Perhaps she could use this to her advantage.

Ben started to get defensive as Sienna began laughing. Who did she think she was? Honestly, maybe he was stooping low even asking her out. He certainly wasn't used to being laughed at. And he really didn't like it.
"Well I did. But you're clearly not interested. I'm sorry I bothered you."
He made as if to walk away but he paused a moment in the hopes that she would say something.

This whole thing could be solved right then as he walked away but something told Sienna to stop him. He didn't say anything about how she was suppose to act. It wasn't like he was going to be her boyfriend if she said yes. It would be just a little kindness his way and he would follow her like a puppy, sort of like a minion. She sighed.
"Hold on. I never did say that exactly."
She was still unsure about this whole thing. It was absolute madness. But she could use someone to do her homework for CoMC.
"I'm going to Hogsmeade, with or without you. If you feel like it, you can come with me, I suppose. I'm not going to wait around all day for you though."
Where was Sienna without a little meanness in everything she said.

Ben had almost expected this. Slytherins had a reputation, to put it nicely. And it wasn't a good reputation. Honestly, he was foolish for even trying to talk to her.
He had just made up his mind to walk away and pretend nothing ever happened when Sienna stopped him. He held his breath. Was she actually considering it? Or even more astounding, was she actually being nice?
He laughed at her next remarks. It wasn't exactly what he was hoping for but it was better than nothing.
"Close enough. I guess I'll see you in Hogsmeade then."
Without another word, Ben turned around and walked away. He didn't want to give her a chance to change her mind.
