Mari's head rested in her hands as she sat at her desk. Classes had sprung up like daisies and Mari was completely unprepared. She had spent the day before, looking at the different plants she had and reading over the book. It took her a while but she found what to do.
She decided to teach the students about screechsnap seedlings. They were nasty things, she was never very fond of them. But knowing some of her students, they would.
The greenhouse now housed four rows of tables, each large enough to seat two students. At each table were two tall stools from the to sit in and a large bag that was suspiciously unlabelled. At the front of the classroom was her table, a much larger, longer table one which all of the plants were placed along with a large box filled with pairs of dragonhide gloves in case a student or two forgot to bring theirs to class. Also still on her table was the box of shears for trimming the plants. Each tray held between three and four swaying, squirming plants that were all letting out various degrees of squeaks and squeals, depending on the particular plant's mood.
The door was open, waiting for the eager students to walk in.

Katrina was the first to arrive in the Greenhouse. She let out a laugh when she saw the squeaking and squealing plants. "Finally, a plant that's actually interesting!"
She quickly went over to one of the tables and took a seat. This class actually looked like it might be fun. But she still couldn't wait until more students would arrive. She hated being the only one there about as much as she hated being the first to arrive.

Christian usually found Herbology boring. He knew that there were many different types of dangerous and exciting plants out there but they never usually got to handle the cool stuff in class. However, he grinned when he saw the plants that they were going to be working with today. He didn't know what they were but he saw the dragon hide gloves and anything that shrieked like that had to be interesting. Taking a seat at one of the other empty tables, he immediately started plotting.

Blech. Herbology. If the idea of skipping a class ever crossed her mind, this would be the class that she would skip. Rowena hated Herbology. She did not like anything that could get her dirty. She did not like things that fight back. And she absolutely hated being in the Greenhouses. They were hot and humid and they all smelled like dirt and fertilizer.
Rowena wrinkled up her nose as she entered this one. She shook her head when she noticed the noisy box of plants. This was not going to be fun. She took a seat by herself and began to mentally prepare herself for what she was about to face.

Jie entered the Greenhouse and looked at who was already there. So far everyone was sitting by themselves. There was an older Ravenclaw and an older Slytherin but Jie did not know either of them very well. And then there was that firstie Gryffindor. Jie grinned.
He pounced on a stool at Katrina's table. "Mind if a demon monkey joins you?" Most students would have been angry at such an insult, but Jie thought it was kind of cool. I'm the demon monkey of Hogwarts! He thought.

"Christian! Don't touch that!"
Sienna yelled loud with slight fear in her voice. Her whole intention was to have the professor look up. Also everyone in the room would turn and stare at him too. Nothing like being the center of attention before class even started to brighten someone's day. Sienna snickered quietly as she took a seat nearby.

Benjamin had thought that he was going to be late. Six years at Hogwarts and you would think that he would know all of the moving staircases by now. But it would seem not. He ended up getting caught on one as it decided to change directions and had to find another way out of the castle. He could not believe his bad luck as he ended up going to the wrong Greenhouse at first as well.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he finally did arrive to the correct location and saw that he still had time to spare. Grinning, he took a seat by Rowena.

Not sure who to sit with, Julien took a seat by himself, hoping others would join in. The people so far in the class were either much too old or young, or were Slytherin. While Sienna didn't bother him at all, he was in no mood to deal with her. He just hoped Cosette would show up. He smiled softly as he looked at the plants they were going to be working with

Alex sighed when he entered the Greenhouse. The only students close to his age were Katrina and Jie. And those two had already taken one of the tables. He looked around. Most people had already partnered up or looked as though they were waiting for someone.
Instantly feeling his mood sour, he went and took a seat at a table by himself. Herbology usually was at least an interesting subject so things could have been worse.

Cosette arrived and immediately took a seat at Julien's table. "I 'ope we do not 'ave to keep anyzing alive zis year."
For whatever reason, Cosette was incapable of keeping plants alive. Occasionally throughout her last few years the Herbology professor would assign the students to take care of certain plants. Cosette dreaded those assignments. Her plants never lasted very long.
